For over 31 years, Steve Mays has been the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel South Bay in Gardena, California with a weekly attendance of over 9,000. Taken quite literally from the gutter by the miraculous workings of the Lord, and discipled by Pastor Chuck Smith (founder of the Calvary Chapel movement), Pastor Steve developed a passion for the lost, and an unwavering devotion to sharing the Word of God. He has authored numerous publications, is a well-known conference speaker, and has a national radio broadcast, “Light of the Word,” which is heard on many radio stations throughout the country. He is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and holds a master’s degree in Theology. He was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree, in recognition of his ministry at CCSB and for his leadership qualities in advancing the cause of Christ. He has been invited on several occasions to the White House for special briefings, and for the National Day of Prayer. He also taught at the Christian Embassy United Nations in New York as well as at the Pentagon in Washington DC. He was also invited to have dinner with the Supreme Court Justices and taught at the Ambassador Study and at the Diplomat Study in Washington DC.
Pastor Steve has been married to his wife, Gail, for over 40 years. They have two children—a son Nathan and a daughter Heather, a grandson—Anthony, and three granddaughters—Riley, Kennedy and Hadley.
